Adjust report visualizations
By default, most ThoughtFarmer Analytics reports are set to display data as a "simple table". However, you can get a different view of the results by adjusting how the reports are displayed.
First, let's see how you can change the "visualization", or the way the report is displayed. Then we'll explain the different visualizations and talk about why they're valuable.
Let's take this Users report for example:

Hover over the icon in the bottom left, it says "Change visualization." Click the icon to see the options explained below:
Insights
This visualization allows you to compare your statistics from the current period to statistics from a previous period. The period of comparison depends on the date range that is currently set. Feel free to adjust the date range to find the statistics you're looking for.For example:
- If you're looking at one day (eg. July 9, 2020), you can choose to compare it to the previous day (July 8), the same day in the previous week (July 2), or the same day in the previous year (July 9, 2019).
- If you're looking at one week (eg. July 8-14), it compares it to the stats from the week before (July 1-7).
- If you're looking at one month (eg. July 2020), it asks you to either compare it to the previous month (June 2020) or the same month in the previous year (July 2019).
Your results are displayed under the Evolution column on the right. Above, you can see both increases and decreases of the results from your previously selected period.
Vertical bar graph
This visualization let's you see the results in an attractive bar graph. From here, you can easily tell which stats are higher than others.Hover over a bar to see the value it represents (like we did for Martyn in the image below).
To adjust which stats are displayed (visits, actions, and/or unique visitors), click the graph icon in the red box. In the graph below, all three categories are selected and therefore displayed.
Piechart
Similar to the vertical bar graph, the piechart gives you a quick glimpse of which users have the highest engagement.By hovering over each section of the piechart, you can see the analytics in more depth.
Tag Cloud
Tag clouds show results based on size. For example, in the cloud displayed below:
- Ben, Martyn, Tyler and Kathy's names are larger, meaning their stats are higher than others.
- Kevin, Kaitie and Justin's names are smaller, meaning that their stats are lower than others.
Each visualization displays the results in a different way. It's helpful to be able to switch between multiple views depending on how you want to view or present your results.
