This feature is available in versions 9.10+.
Required reading is intranet content that your intranet administrator (or other authorized users) has indicated that you must read and acknowledge that you have read.
Human Resources or Communications managers often need employees to acknowledge that they have read specific content. As an employee, you want to know what information you are required to read and acknowledge so you know you are up-to-date on your organization's policies.
View my required reading
Access your Required reading dashboard to find out what content you need to read.
- Click on your name or profile photo on the top right of any page.
- In the menu that opens, click Required reading.
You will be taken to the Required reading dashboard. A list of the pages you are required to read is shown under the My required reading tab. For each page assigned to you as required reading, you can see the page title, page owner, the date you were assigned to read the page, and whether you have confirmed that you have read the page or not. Clicking on the page title will take you to the page.
You won't receive intranet notifications about new required reading pages. New required reading will appear on your Required reading dashboard and in any My required reading Cards on your intranet, so make sure to check those out. You may also receive emails about required reading sent by your intranet admin or another user with permission to assign required reading.
If you own or can edit any intranet pages that are assigned as required reading, they will be listed on the Required reading dashboard under the Manage required reading pages tab. To learn more, see Required reading reports and actions.
Read and confirm a required reading page
Required reading pages have a banner that asks you to confirm that you have read and understood the page. The banner appears under the page header, and sticks to the top of the page as you scroll down.
Once you have read and understood the page, click the Confirm button. A thank you banner will then appear showing the time and date that you confirmed you read the page. If you wish, the thank you banner can be dismissed by clicking the X on the right.
The text for the confirmation and thank you banners may have been modified by the intranet administrator for your organization.
Pages that you have confirmed as read will still appear under the My required reading tab on the Required reading dashboard, but will show with a Confirmed status.
My required reading Card
Your intranet admin (or other authorized users) may add a My required reading Card to your homepage, profile page or another page on the intranet. The My required reading Card is unique to each user. If you have required reading that you have not yet read and confirmed, it will display in the My required reading Card. If you have read and confirmed all required reading assigned to you, then the Card will not display for you. However, you can always view the required reading assigned to you on the required reading dashboard, accessed under the profile menu in the top right.
