Configure AI Assistant topics and source content
The AI Assistant provides answers based on source content that you provide from your intranet. You can create up to 20 topics with up to 1000 total source pages that AI can use to provide answers.
What are topics?
AI Assistant topics display in the AI Assistant message window. When a user expands the AI Assistant message window, they will see a list of topics that shows what kind of information their AI Assistant can help with.
By default, the AI Assistant will use all available topics as potential sources of information to respond to a user prompt. However, a user can also choose to click on Topics: All above the Type your question field and select one of the topics from the dropdown menu. When a user selects a specific topic, the AI Assistant will use the source material it has for that topic to respond to the user's question.
Add a topic
- Go to the ThoughtFarmer Admin panel: Integrations section > AI Assistant page.
- Go to the Topics tab.
- Click Add topic.
- In the Add topic window:
- Add a name for the topic in the Title field.
- In the Sources field, start typing the name of a page on your intranet, and select the page in the dropdown menu when it appears. This adds that page as a topic source. To include the subpages of that page as sources, select the checkbox Include subpages.
- To include an icon or emoji with the topic in the topic selector, toggle the setting Show icon or emoji to ON. Select the tab for Icons or Emoji, and perform a search or scroll through and select an icon or emoji.
- Click on the Text color circle and enter a HEX color code or select a text color from the color picker.
- Click on the Icon color circle and enter a HEX color code or select an icon color from the color picker.
- Click outside the color picker to close it. A preview of the topic title and icon will display.
- If you have multiple languages enabled on your intranet, select a language from the language dropdown at the bottom, and add a custom Title for each enabled language.
- Click Save. You will see the new topic added to the list of topics, showing how many sources it has and how many pages that includes.
Page limit
Statistics at the top of the Topics tab show you how many pages of the available page limit you have used and how many are available. Add or edit topics and add sources to include more intranet pages as sources for the AI Assistant. Edit topics and remove sources or delete topics to reduce the number of intranet pages being used as sources for the AI Assistant.
Edit a topic
- Go to the ThoughtFarmer Admin panel: Integrations section > AI Assistant page.
- Go to the Topics tab.
- Click the edit icon on the right of any topic.
- Make edits in the Edit icon window to change settings for the topic.
- Click Save at the bottom of the window.
Delete a topic
- Go to the ThoughtFarmer Admin panel: Integrations section > AI Assistant page.
- Go to the Topics tab.
- Click the garbage can icon on the right of any topic.
- In the Delete window that appears, click Delete to confirm that you want to delete the topic.
Reorder topics
Reorder topics to change the order in which they appear for users in the AI Assistant window.
- Go to the ThoughtFarmer Admin panel: Integrations section > AI Assistant page.
- Go to the Topics tab.
- Click Reorder topics on the top right of the list of topics.
- In the Reorder topics window:
- Tap on the Reorder by sort, and select the desired sort from the list: Curated, Title, or Date.
- Click on a topic and drag and drop it to where you want it. Repeat for additional topics.
- Click Save.
