Choose whether videos show as carousel thumbnails

You can choose whether a page with a video in the Rich Text Editor content will show the page's featured image or the video thumbnail as the carousel thumbnail if that page is added to a carousel.

When the config setting is set to true (show videos as carousel thumbnails by default), you can still choose whether or not individual videos show as carousel thumbnails. By default, videos will be set to show as news carousel thumbnails. To change this for an individual video, go into edit mode on the page with the video, right-click on the video in the Rich Text Editor, and choose Hide from news carousel.

To change the config setting:

1. Go to the Admin panel: Advanced section > Configuration settings page.
2. Type carousel in the Search config settings field to narrow the config settings results.
3. Find the config setting: 

   news.carousel.showVideos

4. Click in the Value column beside the config setting.
   • Select the true radio button to show page videos as carousel thumbnails by default, and to enable the option to hide page videos from the carousel for individual news posts.
   • Select the false radio button to show featured images (and not videos) as carousel thumbnails.
5. Click Save.

Change carousel rotation speed

You can choose how long an item will show in the homepage carousel news before auto-advancing to the next item.

1. Go to the Admin panel: Advanced section > Configuration settings page.
2. Type carousel in the Search config settings field to narrow the config settings results.
3. Find the config setting:

   home.carousel.autoRotateSpeed

4. Click in the Value column beside the config setting. Enter the time (in milliseconds) that you want an item to show in the carousel before advancing to the next item.
5. Click Save.

Make carousel loop continuously

By default, the news carousel card loops through all of the news stories it is displaying once, then displays the first story again and remains on the first story unless the user manually navigates to the other stories. You can change a configuration setting so that the carousel continuously loops through stories and does not stop on a story.

1. Go to the Admin panel: Advanced section > Configuration settings page.
2. Type carousel in the Search config settings field to narrow the config settings results.
3. Find the config setting:

   news.carousel.loopForever

4. Click in the Value column beside the config setting.
   • Select the true radio button to make the carousel loop continuously.
   • Select the false radio button to make the carousel loop once and then pause on the first story.
5. Click Save.
