Mobile app features

The ThoughtFarmer intranet mobile app lets you find the information and people you need wherever you are, and keep up with intranet news on the go. For employees in many sectors who don't work in front of a desktop or laptop, the mobile app is a prime source of announcements, updates, and connection with their company and coworkers.

The ThoughtFarmer mobile app is a full-featured app that offers the same capabilities as the ThoughtFarmer web application. A few exceptions are noted on the page Compare ThoughtFarmer web application and mobile app. The mobile app intranet experience is superior to viewing the intranet through a mobile web browser, as it is specifically designed for use on mobile devices.

Mobile app interface

Learn how to navigate around the mobile app:

1. Home: Return to the homepage from anywhere.
2. Bookmarks/History/Groups (stack icon): Tap on the stack icon, then tap on the Bookmarks, History or Groups tab to access the desired list. Access lists of your bookmarked intranet pages, your intranet page viewing history, or a list of the intranet groups that you belong to.
3. Alerts (Bell icon): View intranet alerts about forms, page notifications and broadcasts, and mentions of you or your groups.
4. Your profile: Open this menu to access your profile page, profile settings, or sign out. Other options may be available in this menu depending on your intranet's settings and the intranet permissions you have been granted.
5. Back icon: Once you have navigated away from the homepage, a back button will show, allowing you to navigate back to pages previously viewed during this session.
6. Intranet name/current menu: When the intranet name displays, it serves as a link back to the homepage. When viewing menus like Groups, Alerts, Profile, or Required reading, the name of the area you are viewing will appear here.
7. Search: Search the entire intranet by default. Employee, Groups, and specific content type searches also available.
8. SuperNav navigation menu (hamburger icon): Open a side menu that allows you to navigate through the intranet site navigation. Depending on the type of content you are viewing, this menu may include a section search, the ability to navigate to newer or older posts, or other features that have been added to the side menu of the intranet page.

Search

To perform a search, tap the Search icon in the top right and type in your search term. Either select from one of the top five search results that appears as you type, or tap the search arrow to view a list of all search results.

Filter search results

When viewing the People directory (Employee directory), Groups directory, or a list of search results, you can apply search filters to narrow the results further.

1. On the top right above the employee, groups or search results, tap Filter. This opens the left menu and displays the available filters.
2. Tap on a filter category (Type, Edited by, Owned by, Last name, Date, Tag, etc.) to expand it if necessary, then Tap on a filter to apply it to the search results. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to add additional filters.
3. To remove a filter, tap the X on the right of the filter, or tap Clear filters to remove all filters.
4. The search results are updated as you add or remove filters.

Connect

Search the People directory

The name of the People directory can be edited, so look for the name of the people or employee directory on your intranet when following these instructions.

1. Tap the Search icon in the top right.
2. Tap All on the left of the Search field to change the search scope.
3. Tap People in the menu that opens. This narrows your search to only the people/employee directory on your intranet.
4. Type your search term into the search field. The top five search results will appear. To view more results, tap the arrow on the right of the search field.
5. Tap on a person's name or image to view their profile page.

Browse the People directory

The name of the People directory can be edited, so look for the name of the people or employee directory on your intranet when following these instructions.

1. Tap the hamburger icon in the top right to open the left-hand navigation.
2. Tap the arrow beside Home to display the subpages, then tap People in the navigation.
3. Tap the Grid or List icon on the top left of the search results if you want to change the layout of the directory.
4. Scroll through the results and tap the arrows to navigate to the next page of results.
5. Tap on a person's name or image to view their profile page.

Interact with a page or post

When viewing a page or post, use the icons below the page title to like, follow, bookmark, or share the page. If there is a comment field on the page, tap where it says Leave a comment to open the comment field and post your comment.

Share page

When viewing a content page in the mobile app, you can share the page with others by capturing the URL and sharing it somewhere else.

1. Under the page title, tap the Share icon (an arrow coming out of a box).
2. Tap Share page in the menu that opens.
3. A share sheet will open which gives you options to share the page in different apps, such as email, messaging, Slack, etc. You can also choose to copy the URL and paste it where you want.

Alerts

• Alerts include notifications about pages you follow, @mentions for you or your groups, and forms notifications. Important messages sent through the Broadcast feature of ThoughtFarmer will also come through as alerts. Tap the bell icon in the bottom row on the mobile app to view your alerts. Tap the Notifications, Mentions or Forms tab to view different types of notifications.
• If you allow push notifications from the ThoughtFarmer mobile app on your device, you will additionally be notified of broadcast messages in your device notification center.
• If you allow badges to display for the ThoughtFarmer mobile app, whenever you receive a new alert in the app, a circle or number will appear in the corner of the ThoughtFarmer app icon without having to open the app. Note that there may be a small delay between receiving an alert on the intranet and the badge being updated.

Profile

View your profile page

1. Tap your profile photo in the bottom right.
2. Tap your name or photo at the top to go to your profile page.

To view pages that you have created under your profile page, go to your profile page and then tap the hamburger icon in the top right. In the left-hand menu that opens, you will see a list of any pages you have created under your profile. Tap a page title to go to it.

Multilingual support

The ThoughtFarmer mobile app is available in all of the languages that are supported on the web application. The mobile app uses your device language setting before you log in for the first time. After you log in, it uses the language selected in your ThoughtFarmer user settings. To learn more, see Set default language and Configure languages.
