Exclude groups or individuals from analytics
You can exclude the views and engagement metrics for certain users or security groups from displaying in the analytics insights and dashboards. You may want to exclude the analytics metrics for an individual or group using the intranet in a non-standard way, perhaps visiting many pages or visiting certain pages repeatedly for purposes of content creation, content management or analytics monitoring.
- Go to the Admin panel: Logs & Statistics section > Analytics settings page.
- In the Exclude groups or individuals section, click in the Enter names field under the heading Select individuals or security groups. Start typing the name of the security group or individual whose metrics you want to exclude from displaying in the analytics. Select the name of the group or user when it appears in the dropdown menu. Repeat to add more groups or users.
- Click Save.
Select segments to display in analytics
Some analytics widgets show metrics divided into different segments, or groups of users. You can control which segments display in analytics widgets. Available segments are groups, security groups, and dropdown list-type custom profile fields.
- Go to the Admin panel: Logs & Statistics section > Analytics settings page.
- Under Segments, select the checkboxes for the groups, security groups and custom profile fields that you want to display as segments in your analytics reports. Uncheck the checkboxes for any groups or fields that you do not want to display.
- Click Save.
If a new group or profile field is created, you will need to select it on the Analytics settings admin page for it to display in the analytics widgets.
To use segments most effectively, you may need to ensure that group types have been correctly selected on group pages on your intranet, and that security group membership has been maintained and updated.
Group types are set up on the Admin panel: Content section > Group types page.
Security groups are set up on the Admin panel: Users & security section > Security groups page.
Custom profile fields are set up on the Admin panel: Users & security section > Template: profile details page.
