Add a profile cover image
Cover photos add personality to your profile
If it's enabled on your intranet, you can personalize your profile even more by adding a cover image that shows as the page header on your profile page! Your profile will by default have the same page header image or gradient color that is found on its parent page - the People Directory. However, once you change your cover image, it will not be affected by changes to the People Directory page header image. If you don't want to add a cover photo, you can still pick which gradient or color you want your profile page header to be.
Profile cover image using "Image with title separate" format
Image size and file type
The recommended size for a profile cover image is 1200 x 700 pixels. Recommended file types are GIF, JPG and PNG. The page header image height is dependent upon your screen width and the length of the page title. You can select the "safe area" of the image that will show when the page header is at its shortest height.
How to add a cover image to your profile
- Click on your name or profile photo in the top right on any page and click Edit profile in the menu that opens.
- In the cover image area at the top of the page, click on the gear icon in the top right. The Page header settings overlay opens from the right.
- Under Header format make sure the Image with title separate radio button is selected. (See Page header format options heading below to learn about the other header options.)
- Under Background, click Replace. The Choose Image pop-up window will appear.
- Choose a profile cover image in one of these ways:
- If you want to pick a gradient color, click on the color you want.
- If you want to upload a photo, click on the camera icon under Page Images to open the file browsing window. Locate and select the image file you want to use and click Open. It may take a few moments for the photo to upload - it will show in the Choose Image window when it has uploaded.
- If you want to choose a photo from an intranet gallery, look under the Recommended Galleries or All Galleries heading. Click on the gallery whose images you want to view. When you find the image in the gallery, click on it.
- If you want to find an image using Unsplash, click the Unsplash tab, search using keywords for the type of image you want, and click on a photo to select it. (To learn more, see Insert photos from Unsplash.)
- Make sure the image you want to use for the profile cover image has a checkmark on it. (If not, click the image to select it.)
- Click Done in the Choose Image window.
- (For images only, not gradients) In the Page header settings pop-up window that appears, the vertical center of the image is selected as the "safe area" that will always display no matter the dimensions of the image. Click and drag the "safe area" box up or down to select the area that you want to display. Click Done in the Page header settings pop-up window. (To learn more, see Page header image guidelines.)
- Click Done in the Page header settings overlay.
- Continue editing or click Save at the bottom of the page. The photo will now appear in the page header at the top of your profile page.
Page header format options
If you don't want a large image at the top of your profile page, there are two other page header options available in edit profile.
- Line: Choose one of several gradients or colors to have a narrow line of color at the top of your profile.
- None: No image or color. Your profile image and name will show at the top of your profile page.
To change the page header option:
- Click on your name or profile photo in the top right on any page and click Edit profile in the menu that opens.
- In the cover photo area at the top of the page, click on the gear icon in the top right. The Page header settings overlay opens from the right.
- Under Header format, select the Line or None radio button.
- If you select the Line option, then select the radio button below for the gradient color that you want to use.
- Click Done in the Page header settings overlay.
- Continue editing or click Save at the bottom of the page. Your selected header format will now show on your profile page.
Reset page header image to parent page
If you have changed your profile page header and you would like to go back to having the same page header as the People Directory, click Reset page header to parent page in the Page settings overlay. Your profile page will now inherit its cover image from the People Directory. If the People Directory cover image gets changed, your profile page cover image will also change.
